Welcome to Music 101.
What follows on these pages are pieces of my own journey to understanding the guitar fret-board. It is open and free to anybody who stumbled onto this page. It is written from my own personal perspective, and may not carry the approval of professional musicians. Who cares anyway? The end goal is to be able to play my own style of music, which still makes some sort of musical sense. My hope is that at some point in the distant future, it may shed some light on a part of someone else’s journey on the way to discovering and understanding music, so that we don’t end up just copying someone else’s styles and riffs. Information posted on these pages may change as I gain new factual information about acceptable theoretical practice. There are some set-in-stone things in music, but music itself is infinitely flexible. The type of mood you want to create with your music is up to you. Personally, I wish to avoid making people irritable by just mashing keys like an untrained monkey. What you do is none of my business. To discover the fundamentals you need to reach your particular goal is a journey. If you stumbled onto this page and you have an interest in music, you are most welcome to share your own discoveries with me.
At the moment there is very little here. As time goes on and more posts are made, I will start to organize it into specific topics or categories. Both music and building websites are hobbies I like to spend time on. Sometimes I break things to try new methods. It happens. This is a live site, and I’ll be making live changes. It may require periodic clearing of your browser cache to see updated pages. The server cache is regenerated after changes, but I’m not going to employ methods to leverage your browser. You are welcome to contact me if something you wish to view is broken. I will do my best to fix it in good time, and I’ll even let you know when it’s fixed if you left me your contact details. Cookies are in use, but I don’t analyze them. It’s just a byproduct of the potential to create user accounts, and managing user preferences in their browsers. You don’t need to accept cookies if you don’t want to. You won’t get spammed or scammed here. I believe everything will still work for non-members who navigate the site without accepting cookies. I’m not in the business of commercially mining user data. This is just a hobby which keeps me from losing my mind to boredom and other life stress.
So with that all said… Feel free to click around on stuff randomly. At the moment the entry level is for someone who has no clue how music works. If that happens to be you and you don’t understand my explanations, or you have any questions, give me a shout using any contact form you find on here. Maybe I can do better, but that is not a promise though. More stuff will be added on the most irregular schedule you can possibly imagine. I’ve started at the start, but future posts may well seem random and out of place. They will all fit into the bigger puzzle eventually. Like I said… This is a hobby site mapping my own journey. I hope you find at least a little value in these pages…
